THE SILENT ANARCHY

Satur Sulit

if democracy is
government by the people
and anarchy is
the absence of government
then a people
unwilling to be governed
when time to select
must in conscience elect
an outlaw to office
to preserve its interests
in the spirit of democracy

    Gloria Arroyo On Elections:
“I hope they will not vote for those with the biggest mouths, the biggest names and the biggest spenders but those who are best, who are most qualified and that is determined by using your head rather than your passion”

Why “elect in conscience”? Voters vote (or opt to not vote at all) for reasons other than their conscience, and that’s not a crime.

the piece is an observation of fact, not a prescription for more outlaws in government. every vote is an act of conscience. people vote the way they do because they put no stock in the promise of government. it’s the source of our anarchy, what the impossible dream is up against.

A congressman who allowed her men to be the cohorts of her sister in harassing the latter’s aged and ailing ma-in-law is not worthy to be re-elected in any public office!
